Tech News
This was a big week in AI.
OpenAI's free, super-fast GPT-4o (think Samantha from HER) stole the AI spotlight this week. https://openai.com/index/hello-gpt-4o/

At Google's big tech conference, they revealed Project Astra, an upgrade to their AI assistant. They also showed off Veo,a new tool that creates high-quality videos from text descriptions. Here's the Google I/O '24 recap in under 10 minutes:
Apple looks kind of ridiculous right now https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-plays-catchup-ai-google-openai-2024-5
Fresh AI (and one creepy robot)
Anthropic's Claude has finally made its debut in Europe, offering a cutting-edge AI assistant focused on enhancing work efficiency through tasks like research and writing. With a strong commitment to ethical AI development and substantial investment backing, Claude is poised to be a valuable addition to the suite of productivity tools available. But to be honest to me it feels like it’s winning Bronze (and losing to both Silver and Gold).
I’ve been using Globe Explorer a lot to prepare lectures and keynotes:
Dexa helps you find info in podcasts & videos. Search a topic & Dexa will summarize & show you exactly where it's mentioned, saving you time listening/watching. Here’s an example: Will LLMs scale all the way to AGI? https://dexa.ai/s/sqefoBdL
The Chatbot Arena lets you compare responses from different AI chatbots to your question. Over 1 million prompts have been used to rank chatbots. You can see different responses without having to rank them yourself. I bet you know already who’s on top of the leaderboard.
Artificial intelligence-generated content is now widely being used to spread misinformation, as well as to confuse and entertain voters. Throughout 2024, Rest of World is tracking the most noteworthy incidents of AI-generated election content globally. restofworld.org
The Unitree G1 Humanoid Agent can crush nuts and slice Coke bottles, but is REALLY worried about getting laid off because the new intern walks on walls.

Weird and Wonderful

Not sure why the humans are so serious. But at least the pigs seem to enjoy themselves.
