Tech news
YouTube Shorts gets 200 billion views a day and now takes up 1% of all waking human hours worldwide. That’s a lot of scrolling. https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/neal-mohan-cannes-2025/
Celine Dept is an impressive Belgian example: https://youtube.com/@CelineDept/shorts (almost 50M subscribers!)
The U.S. House just banned WhatsApp on official devices, citing security risks and lack of transparency. Meta disagrees and wants House members to keep using it like their Senate colleagues. Another chapter in the ongoing tech-government security debate. https://www.axios.com/2025/06/23/whatsapp-house-congress-staffers-messaging-app
A must watch: Palantir Exposed: The New Deep State. This documentary shows how US tax dollars given to a private corporation that specializes in monitoring citizens’ offline and online behavior.
Here’s another one, from the New York Times: “Death of a Fantastic Machine” is a short documentary about what happens when 45 billion cameras, human vanity, and unchecked capitalism meet AI. It shows how images have been used to mislead since the start and how AI might take that even further.
Fresh AI

It’s their first step into video, and it shows. You can prompt for motion or let it animate automatically. https://docs.midjourney.com/hc/en-us/articles/37460773864589-Video
Kling and Veo have competition now.

Google just opened free access to Imagen 4, their latest image model known for photorealism and fine detail. There’s also Imagen 4 Ultra, better at handling complex text prompts. Both are available now for free in the Gemini API and AI Studio but I’m sure that won’t last forever. https://aistudio.google.com/prompts/new_chat
From my blog
People are falling in love with their chatbots.
So I wrote this blog post about why I think they do: AI, love, and the power of positive reinforcement https://bnox.be/2025/06/ai-love-and-power-of-positive.html (Thank, Johnny for the tip)
Weird and wonderful
Watch the haptic trailer for F1 The Movie on the Apple TV app and feel your phone shake with every engine rev and gear shift, like you’re racing alongside Brad Pitt (honestly, I’d watch anything with him in it) https://t.co/LZsUn25Jem
British inventor James Bruton has built a real-life Transformer that changes from robot to vehicle. He can ride it too! A childhood dream come true, it's detailed and fully functional.
Summer’s here. Rock your body!
